Vegas photoshoot… 6 months ago

I went to Las Vegas again in June! It’s so long ago now that I’ve largely forgotten the details, so this’ll be a nice trip down memory lane or something. I stayed at the Palazzo – I’ve stayed here before, but the room I ended up getting was largely disappointing, to be honest. A little worn, very brown, and just kind of boring. But I was here to work.

And by work, I mean take a shit ton of pictures.

I had tried vaguely to go into this shoot with some props and rough ideas to take interesting pictures, and less so with the common “ooh look she’s sitting on a bed” or “ooh look she’s sitting on a couch”. I did some of that too, but I tried to be a little more… editorial, I suppose. Anyway, it was 9AM, very much time to get to work.

As you can see above, I was trying to be artsy. I actually love this picture, it turned out exactly how I wanted (and I’d had it vaguely in my brain for a while.)

I’m trying to be a little more cognizant about posing, and deliberate about playing with light, and a little more about composition. It’s harder work, but I think the pictures turned out better overall. Plus I’m trying to learn how to post-process a little more without going over the top (but also trying to retain my sanity and not fiddle for hours – and you know I love a good fiddle.)

I love this dress, by the way. I’ve bought a lot from NooWorks – so many incredible prints!!

I cannot tell you how long I’ve had my eye on this jumpsuit from Mixed By Nasrin, but it’s been a while. It’s beautiful and colourful, all the things I aspire to be!

I spent as much time as possible next to the sadly-few windows that there were in this room, trying to use as much of the natural light as I possible could. Here’s a view of the Sphere.

Not the greatest view of the Sphere, but how about a view of my spheres? Ayoooo

Starting to wander into risqué territory already? I guess we were approaching that time of day anyway, which is to say… 11.30am. But you gotta find a way to stay engaged in the mission.

This was largely a random assortment of accessories and lingerie I decided to throw together to see how it would all work. Solid 8/10 I’d say. I can be cute and sexy. What range!

All right. 1pm, I’m starving! Photoshoots are genuinely hard work. If we set aside the mental toll that constantly evaluating your appearance takes on your mind and your soul, it’s also just physically hard moving yourself around, moving furniture around (if you need to move furniture in your space for a better shot, MOVE THE FURNITURE), contorting yourself into ridiculous poses, shifting the camera, adjusting, hydrating for hours on end. Anyway, time to head out and figure out what I’m eating.

Full of eggplant parm and some other beefy pasta thing (I definitely ate too much), back to the hotel room to see what else I had in me. Oh no biggie, just the best picture I’ve ever taken of myself ever

Every photoshoot has one of these pictures where i’m like “You know, I think we’ve peaked. We’ll never get better than this one”. This was that picture.

The day’s winding down, so I’m eager to see what else we can pull off. I’ve got sparkles and ideas – let’s see what we can do.

Some quick selfies in front of the window so I can grab what light I can. I should mention that while this is the middle of June, I’m on the east side of the hotel, so the usable light dropped off a lot earlier than I’d like.

Pretty happy with that. At this point it was 6.30pm, I’d been up since maybe 3.30am (I couldn’t sleep. Don’t know why) so I’m basically done for the day, other than finding food. Did I mention it was June? It was ~110F outside – I ain’t going out there! I wandered sans-Liz to find a chicken sandwich and a milkshake. Shit yeah, calories! To bed, and onwards to tomorrow, hopefully fully rested!

OK WELL I WOKE. UP AT 3.30am AGAIN, SO DEFINITELY NOT FULLY RESTED.

You know, when life gives you lemons, make some fuckin’ lemonade, you know? The sun’s up, so let’s utilise the early morning light while we have it.

Lacy. A lace-trim tank and some lacy undies are doing a lot of heavy lifting here (not to brag or anything). I don’t love how my makeup turned out, but overall, I ain’t mad. Wait, didn’t. I say I came into this with concepts to execute, and the same old shit? Let’s do some of that again.

Shit yeah.

The original plan for the ribbons was to tie myself up somehow, like I was a hostage in some weirdo late-night-channel-4 art movie. Instead, a few things became quickly apparent – I’m no shibari-expert (or novice!) and don’t know anything about knots, if I tie up my legs I have to hop around in heels if the framing isn’t right, and if I do need to move, the ribbon loosens up and falls to the floor anyway. Tying a few bits around my wrists, and pooling the rest on the floor alongside a pink feather boa I had on hand, in a sparkly skirt and some wine glasses made it look like the messy results. ofa wild night. Good enough, especially for 8.45am.

Let’s try something else – there’s some cool shadows coming in from the window, I wonder what we can do with that?

These turned out super nice, though you can see my disappointment at the room – overall largely boring, but I managed to get some good usage from it.

I don’t think I mentioned the shoes – I got these on sale from Charlotte Stone – socks from Sock Candy. Blazer from Wildfang. I’m not sponsored – that’d be cool though, but sponsorship deals probably mean work and I’ve got enough shit to do. Anyway here’s another dress from Nooworks, and boots from Thursday Boot Company – who would’ve thought My Weekend Shoes would be wearing weekday boots? ok stupid joke, moving on…

I’m no supermodel. Posing is hard – in hindsight, it’s easy to say “Well don’t put your whole back against the door! Arch, arch!” but alas here we are. Let’s try some classic bed shots I guess.

Ok enough of that, it’s underwear time. I have fallen in love with Thistle and Spire – I’ve got at least… 4 pieces from them? Maybe more? I’ve lost count, honestly.

That blue bodysuit is crazy, right? I love this next black one too – the skirt is a random mesh thing I got from amazon, but it worked so well with the mesh arms of the bodysuit.

While trying to piece together the timeline of this post, I found a couple more photos of this outfit that I didn’t even know I had! Check out the one on the floor, pretty sweet, even if I do say so myself.,

I was going to say “It’s getting late at this point!” but it’s not, it’s 11.30am. I’m starting to run on empty though, since I’ve been up for 8 hours already – I’ve got one last idea in my head, so let’s see what we can do. Random bits of lingerie, engage!

I often have to remind myself to not look too closely at these pictures, because I will find something to be sad about. Maybe it’s the pose being a little off, or my makeup not being perfect, or my obviously masculine body or my weight or my stomach or …etc etc. No one else is looking at these photos the way I am, with my inner critic dial turned to eleven. (Generally I hope people will look at these pictures and think “whoa she looks stunning and cool and pretty!” WITH NO FURTHER THOUGHTS THANK YOU VERY MUCH). A big part of what I hope to accomplish in 2026 is going to be geared towards making my brain quieter, and allowing myself to do things, instead of obsessing about how and when and to do things and other people’s perceptions of them. I’m hopeful to find a little more joy and a lot less mental load. Fingers crossed.

Ok time to eat! The main part of the photoshoot is over at this point, but I’ve still got a cellph..err, my mobile.

Back to the hotel room now, it’s 2pm, but I’m exhausted. The rest of the day is going to be me sitting in bed, taking a bath, looking through pictures, and hopefully getting some real sleep before I get home. But one last selfie before all that.

Until next time, bishes!

<3 xx
