Vegas photoshoot… 6 months ago

I went to Las Vegas again in June! It’s so long ago now that I’ve largely forgotten the details, so this’ll be a nice trip down memory lane or something. I stayed at the Palazzo – I’ve stayed here before, but the room I ended up getting was largely disappointing, to be honest. A little worn, very brown, and just kind of boring. But I was here to work.

And by work, I mean take a shit ton of pictures.

I had tried vaguely to go into this shoot with some props and rough ideas to take interesting pictures, and less so with the common “ooh look she’s sitting on a bed” or “ooh look she’s sitting on a couch”. I did some of that too, but I tried to be a little more… editorial, I suppose. Anyway, it was 9AM, very much time to get to work.

As you can see above, I was trying to be artsy. I actually love this picture, it turned out exactly how I wanted (and I’d had it vaguely in my brain for a while.)

I’m trying to be a little more cognizant about posing, and deliberate about playing with light, and a little more about composition. It’s harder work, but I think the pictures turned out better overall. Plus I’m trying to learn how to post-process a little more without going over the top (but also trying to retain my sanity and not fiddle for hours – and you know I love a good fiddle.)

I love this dress, by the way. I’ve bought a lot from NooWorks – so many incredible prints!!

I cannot tell you how long I’ve had my eye on this jumpsuit from Mixed By Nasrin, but it’s been a while. It’s beautiful and colourful, all the things I aspire to be!

I spent as much time as possible next to the sadly-few windows that there were in this room, trying to use as much of the natural light as I possible could. Here’s a view of the Sphere.

Not the greatest view of the Sphere, but how about a view of my spheres? Ayoooo

Starting to wander into risqué territory already? I guess we were approaching that time of day anyway, which is to say… 11.30am. But you gotta find a way to stay engaged in the mission.

This was largely a random assortment of accessories and lingerie I decided to throw together to see how it would all work. Solid 8/10 I’d say. I can be cute and sexy. What range!

All right. 1pm, I’m starving! Photoshoots are genuinely hard work. If we set aside the mental toll that constantly evaluating your appearance takes on your mind and your soul, it’s also just physically hard moving yourself around, moving furniture around (if you need to move furniture in your space for a better shot, MOVE THE FURNITURE), contorting yourself into ridiculous poses, shifting the camera, adjusting, hydrating for hours on end. Anyway, time to head out and figure out what I’m eating.

Full of eggplant parm and some other beefy pasta thing (I definitely ate too much), back to the hotel room to see what else I had in me. Oh no biggie, just the best picture I’ve ever taken of myself ever

Every photoshoot has one of these pictures where i’m like “You know, I think we’ve peaked. We’ll never get better than this one”. This was that picture.

The day’s winding down, so I’m eager to see what else we can pull off. I’ve got sparkles and ideas – let’s see what we can do.

Some quick selfies in front of the window so I can grab what light I can. I should mention that while this is the middle of June, I’m on the east side of the hotel, so the usable light dropped off a lot earlier than I’d like.

Pretty happy with that. At this point it was 6.30pm, I’d been up since maybe 3.30am (I couldn’t sleep. Don’t know why) so I’m basically done for the day, other than finding food. Did I mention it was June? It was ~110F outside – I ain’t going out there! I wandered sans-Liz to find a chicken sandwich and a milkshake. Shit yeah, calories! To bed, and onwards to tomorrow, hopefully fully rested!
