Ask a Crossdresser: Why do you have NSFW photos? 2

Why take NSFW photos?

Of course, I want to be viewed as a good example, a model crossdresser – someone who comports and conducts themselves in a manner that is respectable and does not adversely affect society’s view of the crossdressing community. I hope I do this well, and if you believe this is not so, please let me know.

I will repeat, over and over again, until I am blue in the face under my many, many layers of concealer and foundation:

  • This is not a fetish for me.
  • This is not sexual.
  • This is not how I get my kicks/jollies/etc.

It’s not about sex. It’s about celebration.

As it turns out, I am a human being. I like to think I have a healthy dose of vanity mixed with a healthy dose of pride (and various amounts of the other deadly sins). Like many men and women, I like to look good, and to feel good about myself. I like to take pride in my appearance. In those fleeting moments where I might feel attractive, or (shock horror) sexy, I want to record those moments, to be able to look back and say “That’s me! I look great! Check out the gams on that! Rawr!”.

I am proud of my body. I am proud of how I look, and I want to celebrate that. Every picture I take, whether risque or not, is a celebration of who I am. When I look at any of my pictures, I feel happy.

Throughout my life, I’ve dealt with a lot of shame and guilt about being a crossdresser. But after many years, I managed to overcome it. To accept myself. After a little while longer, I even began to feel proud of who I am, and how I look.

If that’s not something to celebrate, I don’t know what is.

I put up a survey recently (it might still be up!) to ask people their opinions on the site, and one of the questions I asked was

You may have noticed some mildly risque content on the site – how do you feel about it?

Of the 88 people who answered the question:

  • 55 (62.5%) said they don’t care
  • 27 (30.7%) said they would like to see more
  • 6 (6.8%) said they would like to see less

I won’t be posting anything I deem as slightly NSFW in the main feed so that will be clear for all :) I’ll never post anything outrageously NSFW (sorry ^_^) but anything mildly risque can be found, if you’re looking for it :)

I really like the pitch of your articles and your photos, and totally understand the feeling of happiness that you have in looking back at your photos, as a record of your beautiful and femme self. You are sexy, stylish and humorous, and your blog presents that well. I like the new format too!

Thanks for reading, and taking the time to comment!

I feel like it’s important to delineate between the two (sometimes blurred) camps of crossdressers – fetishists vs identity – but also realise that just because someone is in the identity camp doesn’t mean that they can’t have a sexuality… if that makes sense.
